Pokémon Presents: Everything You Need to Know

In pursuit of catching ‘em all, Pokémon has released a Pokémon Presents! Here’s a rundown of everything announced, upgraded, and evolved in the direct-style presentation that premiered August 8th.

Pokémon Presents

Pokémon Presents started as a presentation for Pokémon specifically, after stationing themselves separate from Nintendo Directs. Though they still pop up in features through Nintendo, this new format run through the Pokémon company allows them more freedom to explore a fan favorite world of pocket monsters. This one specifically started at 6am Pacific Time on YouTube. The mysterious flash of a neon sign in the teaser pulled fans to join in live all over the world.

With previous announcements of Pokémon Scarlet and Violet (2022) DLC expansions coming later this year, and Detective Pikachu Returns (2023) coming October 6th, fans were expecting new information on those titles. The 35 minute runtime of Pokémon Presents proved to serve more than just details on previous announcements.

Pokémon Presents: The Real Treasure in Area Zero

Ending off the presentation, fans were treated to an in-depth description of the upcoming DLC for Pokémon Scarlet and Violet

Being under the umbrella of “The Hidden Treasure of Area Zero”, these two separate expansions will end up leading back into the deep chasm in the Paldea region. With some extra snippets of lore photographs, the story of the Paldea region only expands from here.

The Teal Mask, being the first expansion, will see trainers venturing to Kitakmi on a school trip in order to disassemble an old folktale passed down through generations. This folktale talks about the three Pokémon Okidogi, Munkidori, and Fezandipiti taking down an ogre threatening the land. Taking place during the festival of masks, discover more about these loyal three.

During the trip, you meet two blueberry academy students, Keiran and Carmine, who will venture with you, your teacher Briar, and a photographer under the name Perrin in order to scale this mountainous area. Find new Pokémon, including a paldean Applin named Dipplin, play some mochi loving Ogre ‘Oustin, take some Roto-Stick photos, and venture deeper into the caves to find a new terra-transforming legendary!

The Indigo Disk, the second expansion, sees trainers entering the blocky research facility of Blueberry academy, with its artificial savannah, coastal, canyon, and polar biomes reminiscent of the Safari Zone from Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver (2009)

Play minigames with Koraidon and Miraidon as they fly across the expansive planes. Run into the BB league, with their own elite four and elite challenges along with them. Discover new Pokémon being studied, including Archaludon, an evolution of Duraludon, and a new disk-shaped turtle-like legendary. Another small addition allows trainers to deepen bonds between previous accomplices, and even change your pokeball throw! Meet Lacy, Crispin, Amarys, and Drayton in your own customizable club room in The Indigo Disk!
