Is your little one an aspiring mangaka? Shonen Jump and Ribon opened submissions for the “Ribon x Jump Elementary School Manga Award” that could kickstart your child’s passion into high gear!
Now until March 31, 2024, Ribon, Weekly Shonen Jump/Shonen Jump+, and Saikyō Jump, the three leading manga publications of Shueisha, have teamed up for this manga competition that is exclusively for elementary school children. This year’s competition was planned to celebrate the 25th milestone of the “Elementary School Manga Award” that Ribon first held back in 2008, and the 55th anniversary of Weekly Shonen Jump.
Children are allowed to work in groups of two or more, if they so choose, as long as they meet the requirements of being in elementary school and are under the age of 12 at the time of the application deadline. The “Super Mangaka Award” grand prize winner will be published in either Ribon, Weekly Shonen Jump/Shonen Jump+, or Saikyō Jump. All participating applicants will receive a booklet created by each editorial department for contributors who wish to grow up and become manga artists!
The competition judges are the editor-in-chief of each magazine and ten manga artists. Names of the judges are as follows: Akira Amano, Noriko Asaka, Honoka Kinoshita, Kazumata Oguri, Emi Ishikawa, Minori Kurosaki, Mayu Sakai, Nana Haruta, Posuka Demizu, and Kaiu Shirai.
