5. Heen - Howl’s Moving Castle
Kicking off the list at number five is Heen! This lazy, ancient cutie can only be found in the movie adaptation and acts as an errand runner for Madame Suliman.
4. Growlithe - Pokémon
Growlithe, also known as the puppy Pokémon, makes the list at number four! It is known that Growlithe are generally loyal, protective, and obedient to their trainers and will go head to head with any foe they may face! They are the perfect companions for Officer Judy.
3. Ein - Cowboy Bebop
Ein, the data dog and an integral member of the Bebop crew, comes in at number three. Enhanced in a research facility, he is capable of doing many things. Did you know that he can drive a car (wheel only), hack computers with his mind, play Shogi, and bark once for “yes” and twice for “no”?
2. Akamaru - Naruto
At number two, we have Akamaru, a ninken (ninja dog) from the Inuzuka Clan who is partnered with Kiba Inuzuka of Team 8 (Team Kurenai). Not only is he Kiba’s best friend and loyal companion, but he is also incredibly strong, can sense chakra, and even helped to create Dynamic Marking and Human Beast Combination Transformation: Double-Headed Wolf. Alone, he’s a force to be reckoned with; paired up with his best boy Kiba, they’re unstoppable! There really isn’t any other dog we could want to have our backs, literally and figuratively.
