Oldtakus like myself recall the perfection that is Code Geass. What isn’t to love about a sociopathic genius playing a dangerous game of human and mecha chess against an empire, a white knight with a heart of gold, and a mysterious girl that loves pizza? If you haven’t seen Code Geass, fear not! This classic is still streaming online and you can binge to your heart’s desire.
At AnimeJapan 2023, it was announced that Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion anime will be adapted into a musical stage play titled Musical Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion.
Starring Kōji Kominami as Lelouch Lamperouge and Ryōtarō Akazawa as Suzaku Kururugi, the musical is set to run in September. If the musical has any nods to the original intro and outro songs, I may pass away before I can write a review on it! That said, the casting looks fairly spot on for the main characters.
Crunchyroll describes Code Geass as follows:
The year is 2017 of the Imperial calendar and parts of the world are under the control of the Holy Britannian Empire. Lelouch Lamperouge, an exiled Britannian prince, encounters a strange girl known as C.C., who gifts him with a great and terrible power. The Geass. With this powerful ability, Lelouch can get anyone to do as he wills. But the power of Geass: is it a blessing…or a curse?

If musicals aren’t your thing, or you just want to binge the anime, Code Geass has two seasons:
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion R2
A spin-off anime was released in 2012, titled Code Geass: Akito the Exiled.
If you still can’t get enough of Lelouch and CC, there are also 4 movies and, the first three movies are a recap trilogy of the series:
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion I Initiation
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion II Transgression
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion III Glorification
Code Geass: Lelouch of the Re;surrection
Code Geass is available to stream on Crunchyroll.
