They say Heaven is a place on Earth, so it makes sense that Paradise is a place in Hell… wait, what? MAPPA is back at it again with another beautifully animated series, Hell’s Paradise!
Hell’s Paradise follows Gabimaru the Hollow, a former shinobi and renown assassin, as he travels with executioner Yamada Asaemon Sagiri and other death row criminals in a perilous search for the Elixir of Life. This dark anime is based on the manga, Hell’s Paradise: Jigokuraku, written and illustrated by Yuji Kaku.
Crunchyroll describes the premise as follows:
Gabimaru reigns as the strongest and most ruthless assassin in his village. But now finds himself on death row—with only one way out: retrieve the Elixir of Life from a sinister island. Longing for freedom, he accepts the challenge. But with fellow convicts vying for the same prize and demonic beasts lurking, how will Gabimaru survive this harrowing quest?
