The kingdom of Hyrule is ready to be re-explored! Nintendo just released a special direct presentation centered on news concerning The Legend of Zelda. From merch and events to a new look at the Ocarina of Time remake, there was no shortage of excitement.
New Merchandise and Events
There were quite a few things revealed in the merchandise department. The biggest thing was the reveal of a special edition Switch 2 and Pro Controller designed after The Legend of Zelda. Both will be released on October 29th of this year and are selling out fast at any retailer taking pre-orders.
Nintendo will also be releasing an ocarina on the Nintendo Store website designed to look like the titular instrument from Ocarina of Time. Nintendo and LEGO will be releasing a new set based on Link and his horse companion, Epona.
In terms of events, The Legend of Zelda orchestral world tour is set to begin later this year in Japan, before moving on to North America and Europe in early 2027. The Nintendo Museum in Kyoto, Japan, will also be hosting its own Zelda events and have limited-edition The Legend of Zelda-themed ticket designs.
Ocarina of Time Revisited
The remaining half of the dedicated direct showed off the first look at gameplay for the upcoming remake of Ocarina of Time. A lot of the controls have been streamlined for the controller of the Switch 2. Switching items is set to become easier, the camera can be freely controlled, there is a dedicated jump button now, and environments have a major design overhaul. Major story cutscenes will also feature complete voice acting, akin to Breath of the Wild and Tears of the Kingdom.
Characters’ appearances have received some minor tweaks, adding more details to their clothes and features. Using the Switch 2’s microphone, players can hum a song from the game when using the ocarina in-game. Ocarina of Time is expected to release on November 5th, 2026, on the Switch 2, with retailers selling versions with a special cover while supplies last.
