Zeno Robinson’s Process for Dubbing the Jabber Rap in Gachiakuta

*This article contains spoilers for Gachiakuta Episode 17*

Gachiakuta is one of the hottest anime to come out in 2025. With its distinctive art style, punk overtones and trash theme, this anime is one of the more unique shonen to come out.

One scene that recently stuck out in fans’ minds was in Episode 17: Memories of a Mediocrity. Zanka and Jabber engage in a fight, and Zanka is poisoned. Jabber breaks out into a rap over Zanka’s body, and many fans expressed their appreciation for it on social media.

At a Gachiakuta panel this past weekend at SacAnime Winter 2026, Jabber’s voice actor Zeno Robinson went into detail about how this rap came to be.

The Process of Writing the Rap

Robinson is no stranger to writing raps. He would rap when he was in high school and worked on localization projects when the localizer couldn’t write them. When it came to Gachiakuta, Robinson started on the rap right away.

“I literally was at a convention when (Episode 17) came out. On my way home, I was already writing what I was going to do,” Robinson said. Robinson recorded the through line beat and from there, it was coming up with the lyrics and matching the syllables.

The original Japanese version’s lyrics are:

Gloopy gloop toxin

Neurotoxin!

Then throw in the venomenal hallucinogen!

Robinson originally tried recording what was originally translated, but ran into the problem of not enough words/syllables to fit into the mouth flaps.

“That’s why I wrote that last bar to fill that, because we got to that part and Lee (George) was kind of like, ‘I don’t know what we’re gonna do here,’” Robinson reflected. “I was like ‘I wrote something’… I did that, and that’s what you heard.”

The English version of the rap reads:

There’s gloopy gloop, toxin

At the neurotoxin

Mix it with a bit of the hallucinogen

Let it sink in

Now he tweakin’

The rap was well received, with Gachiakuta fans posting videos online with Robinson’s rap in the background, appreciating his creativity.
