A new entry is rising from the ocean in this colossal franchise! TOHO Animation is working on a brand new series based on the iconic movie monster, Godzilla, with a very unique twist!
What Is The Series About?
While not much has been revealed by the studio about what the show will be about or when it will be released, a small synopsis was given. Rather than depicting the Godzilla the world is familiar with, it will instead follow a boy who has the abilities of Godzilla. Keiji Ota, Chief Godzilla Officer at TOHO, stated that the series will “explore more of the fear and hope of the modern era”.
What Other Information We Know
TOHO is working with Orange, the studio behind Trigun Stampede, Beastars and Godzilla Singular Point (pictured above), as well as Igloo Studio. TOHO also released a piece of concept art for the show. It features the main protagonist of the series using what we can assume is his version of Godzilla’s atomic beam. Currently, it is unknown who is directing the series, writing the scripts or when we can expect more news to drop. While not much information was shared during the, Keiji Ota did, however, say that more news and information would be revealed in due time and appreciates the patience of the fans.
Fan Reactions
Given the amount of time the Godzilla franchise has been around, it has a pretty devoted fanbase. Upon the announcement, fans have shown their excitement and support for the new series. But other fans have also shown a side of concern due to the extreme deviation of using a human with Godzilla’s abilities rather than the kaiju itself. While it is too early to tell how the series will actually be received upon release, it is shaping up to leave its impact on this legendary and established franchise.
