After endless other games in the franchise, Pokémon finally gave the fans what they wanted and announced a new cozy game called Pokémon Pokopia during Nintendo Direct. Nintendo announced that the game will be released sometime in 2026 for the Nintendo Switch 2.
About the Game
In Pokémon Pokopia, a new Pokémon gets the spotlight: Ditto! Due to Ditto’s transforming powers, players play as a Ditto that has transformed to look like a human.
Players collect materials, such as rocks, wood and other crafting materials, to build their own cozy home in-game. Throughout Pokémon Pokopia, players create homes for themselves and Pokémon, including building furniture and growing vegetables.
Not only that, but Ditto can also learn other Pokémon’s moves, using them to create a lush environment for the Pokémon utopia. The moves include learning Squirtle’s “Water Gun” to water plants or Bulbasaur’s “Leafage” to grow plants and add more greenery. The more lush a player’s home is, the more Pokémon will visit.
What Stands Out
Unlike other Pokémon games or shows, Pokémon Pokopia allows players to understand what each Pokémon says, beyond just their names.
In the trailer, we see Bulbasaur say, “I love leaves and greens and stuff. And living by lotsa green things!” By communicating with different Pokémon, players can create the perfect utopia that caters to each character’s needs.
With its similar gameplay style to hit games like Animal Crossing or Stardew Valley, Pokémon Pokopia will surely be a hit, especially since many Pokémon fans have awaited this style of game’s arrival.
Although Pokémon Pokopia has no official release date yet, pre-orders open on Nov. 12, 2025, on the My Nintendo Store and the Nintendo eShop. Until then, fans can keep up with the Pokémon universe through numerous games and shows, including Pokémon Legends Z-A, which announced a ton of new Mega Evolution updates, or the latest season of Pokémon Conciege on Netflix.
