Perhaps the most anticipated event of Anime Expo 2025 was Lyn Inaizumi’s debut performance in the United States. Inaizumi is the vocalist of the Persona 5 soundtrack, including the new mobile game spin-off title Persona 5: The Phantom X.
Lyn gave fans a taste of what to expect in the afternoon. As part of the Phantom X panel, Lyn closed out the event by performing “Ambitions and Visions,” the opening song of the game. In under 4 minutes, Lyn captivated attendees and built even more excitement for the afternoon performance.
The Novo, an off-site venue, can accommodate an audience of 2,300. With a line wrapping around the block, every seat was filled. As a bonus, every seat also received a Persona goodie bag, including a light stick.
Lyn Inaizumi’s stage presence cannot be understated. She encourages and embraces audience participation, pointing the mic to fans during the chorus of a song. Her performance looks effortless, she knows her instrument and how to command it. Lyn is an astounding live performer and it’s truly an honor to witness.
About halfway through the concert, ATLUS guitarist Toshiki Konishi joined Lyn on stage. Konishi took over to perform a Persona medley, unexpectedly playing music from Persona 3 Reload. Without missing a beat, the audience changed light stick colors from red to blue.
Before the finale, Persona fans were treated to one more surprise: the official Persona Live Concert announcement. To paint a better picture of how everyone happily lost their collective minds, the announcement came right before the encore.
Typically, encores in Japan last much longer than their USA counterparts. Upwards of 5 minutes, Japanese audiences chant “encore” as if to reinvigorate the performer. In the United States, audiences aren’t left waiting for longer than 3 minutes.
The Persona team decided on a happy medium that left Americans confused, but still spirited. The live concert announcement came about 2 minutes into the encore wait, both startling and exciting fans (and staff).
