About Ado
Ado was born in Japan, in 2002, and began her music career as an internet cover singer. By 2020, she had been a featured vocalist on other artists’ singles before releasing her own debut single, “Useewa”, right before her 18th birthday. The music video reached 40 million views on YouTube the next year and ranked number one on several popularity charts. She continued to release singles until her first studio album, “Kyogen”, was released shortly after. It quickly sold over 140,000 physical copies and became the first album from a female Japanese artist to reach number one on the Japanese charts in over a decade.
Ado would continue to dominate the charts and gain popularity with her work as the singing voice of Uta in the One Piece Film: Red. The soundtrack album, “Uta’s Songs: One Piece Film Red”, saw global success and topped several international charts. Ado’s record-breaking talent would eventually lead to her first world tour “Wish”. Her second world tour, “Hibana”, is scheduled to last from April to August 2025.
Ado’s powerful vocals and poignant lyrics have cemented her as an icon for Japanese youth. Throughout her career, she has elected to keep her face hidden. Her live concerts are notable for their use of harsh backlight and caged performances. In an interview with the British daily newspaper, The Guardian, she explained her decision stemmed from the Vocaloid scene, in hopes that it puts more focus on her artistry. Ado has also produced an idol group called “Phantom Siita” that debuted in 2024. They were featured in the band Imagine Dragon’s remix of “Take Me to the Beach.”
