About Given
High schooler Ritsuka Uenoyama is the lead guitarist in a band, who’s lost the appeal for music. After meeting Mafuyu Satō, a quiet and shy classmate on the stairs at school, Uenoyama reluctantly becomes Satō’s guitar teacher after fixing Satō’s Gibson guitar. Uenoyama hears Satō sing for the first time, and in the process of teaching guitar, Uenoyama starts to fall back in love with music. Recruiting Satō as the lead singer, Uenoyama, along with drummer Akihiko Kaji and bassist Haruki Nakayama, the group navigates as a band how to prepare for their first live show together. Along the way, love stories unfold between each member.
The Given anime has 11 episodes and the franchise currently has two movies. The first movie, Given The Movie, follows the events after the anime between the band’s bassist Haruki Nakayama, drummer Akihiko Kaji, and Kaji’s roommate and ex-boyfriend Ugetsu Murata.
Following the first movie is Given The Movie: Hiiragi Mix, the first of two parts and debuted earlier this year. Given The Movie: Umi e is the second part and will debut later this year.
Given, Given the Movie, and Given – On the Other Hand (original video animation) are all available to stream on Crunchyroll.
