Ever wanted to lay into the enemy team dressed as Spike? Now these space cowboys are available for landing, jetting into Overwatch 2 (2022) on March 12th!
What is Overwatch 2?
Overwatch 2 is a class based shooter, similar to the popular Team Fortress 2 (2007) or Rainbow Six Siege (2015). Overwatch is special in terms of gameplay, considering there’s a specific 5-party setup of 2 attack, 2 healing, and 1 tank heroes in each team. All of the fascinating characters, ranging from futuristic robots to tech-savvy westerners seem to be super powerful with creative weaponry and abilities that contribute to team strategy.
With it’s somewhat futuristic aesthetic mixing with the old west and similar genres, Overwatch 2 works as a perfect collaboration with Cowboy Bebop. Considering both have space cowboys ready to break it down, the crossover outfits mesh ideally with characters like Cassidy and Ashe. And of course, it’s awesome to say it’s finally real.
Cassidy as Spike & Ashe as Fae
The most obvious connection is Cole Cassidy and Spike Spiegel, two cocky space cowboys ready to lay down some bullets in the heat of the moment. Especially with the trailer emulating the iconic opening Tank! The character’s art and vibes match up almost perfectly.
Perhaps another obvious connection is Ashe and Fae Valentine, the universe’s most dangerous femme fatale. Ashe’s skin includes Fae’s classic red dress shirt, yellow shorts and undershirt, along with the recognizable blue hair and sunglasses. It’s spot on, and many fans are more than excited to finally rock with this skin. Bob also takes on a very anime aesthetic, looking closer to a ship like the Bebop. It’s all great for space cowgirls here!
Mauga as Jet, Sombra as Ed, and Wrecking Ball as Ein
One of the newest characters to overwatch, Mauga’s buff build design is fit perfectly for that of the managerial mechanic Jet Black. His huge guns, flashy moveset, and overall playstyle is a perfect fit, and makes for a great crossover skin. His ripped vest and mechanical arm look more than ready to pack a punch when needed. Packing some heavy weaponry, many would say.
One somewhat unexpected inclusion, but a more than welcome collaboration, is Sombra as Edward. It makes complete sense, with the hacker mentality consistent between the both of them. The interpretive orange hair, the cool little tag etched into the side of her hair, and the chill, almost nonchalant vibe of her clothing creates one of the coolest and most accurate interpretations of Ed in a video game.
And lastly, one of the most surprising takes, is Wrecking ball as the best boy Ein. Especially when Ein is the mascot corgi of the show, it can be hard to adapt him into something new and interesting in a video game. But what other goofy character would work other than the gerbil boy Hammond? This demolition expert seems to fit into the role amazingly, no worries there.
There’s much speculation about what else will be included in this collaboration, but overall, the skins and trailer really exude the great energy of an awesome crossover. Some think there may be iconic voice lines, such as, “See you later, Space Cowboy,” and other quips that work as references for the show. All that we can confirm right now is the amazing vibes coming to the popular first person shooter.
Look out for this amazing collaboration dropping March 12th!
