The English dub cast of the upcoming anime Solo Leveling was announced at Crunchyroll’s industry panel at Anime NYC, and the list includes both some big names and some newer ones.
About Solo Leveling
Based on a South Korean web novel and webtoon of the same name, Solo Leveling follows a man named Sung Jinwoo as he struggles to survive in a world where human warriors known as hunters fight dangerous and deadly monsters to protect the rest of mankind. Jinwoo is an incredibly weak hunter who ends up surviving a dangerous situation that killed the rest of his party. He is chosen by a mysterious program known as the “System” as its sole player, and is given the rare ability to “level up” in strength. He then goes on a journey to defeat his enemies and uncover the truth behind the power he was given.
The anime adaptation is based on the webtoon, which has been compiled and released in English by Yen Press, with seven volumes currently available. The show is being animated by A-1 Pictures and directed by Shunsuke Nakashige, and was first announced at Anime Expo 2022. Earlier this year it was confirmed that the release would be January of 2024. With the release only a couple of months away now, Crunchyroll has announced the voice actors that will be bringing the English dub voices of the characters to life.
Solo Leveling English Dub Cast
Sung Jinwoo will be voiced by Aleks Le (Demon Slayer, Vinland Saga), while his sidekick Yoo Jinho will be played by Justin Briner (My Hero Academia). Sung Jinah, the main character’s sister, will be voiced by Rebecca Wang, a newcomer to anime voice acting. Baek Yoonho, a beast mode hunter, will be voiced by Christopher Sabat (One Piece, Dragon Ball Z). S-rank hunter Cha Hae-in will be voiced by Michelle Rojas (Attack on Titan), chairman of the Korean Hunter Associate Go Gunhee will be voiced by Kent Williams (Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood), and the flame-wielding Choi Jong-in will be played by Ian Sinclair (My Hero Academia). Rounding out the announcements is SungWon Cho (Ranking of Kings) as chief inspector of the Korean Hunters Association Woo Jinchul, and Dani Chambers (The Ancient Magus Bride) as Jinwoo’s hunter friend Lee Joohee. The English ADR Director was also announced as Caitlin Glass, who has done both voice acting and ADR directing for anime in the past.
An English dubbed version of the most recent trailer was also released, so fans can get an early listen to some of the newly announced cast. While no official release date has been confirmed yet, Solo Leveling is set to stream on Crunchyroll in January of 2024.
