After years in the making, RDCWorld (or RDCWorld1) has released the first chapter of their manga, DARK LIGHTS. The 71-page chapter is now exclusively available to subscribers on their official website.
Powerhouse Animation Studios is already producing an anime adaptation of this series. Mark Phillips, a co-founder of RDC, and Phillip Gelatt, the creator of Love, Death & Robots, teamed up to write the script for the animated series.

Mark Phillips and Affiong Harris founded RDCWorld in 2012. The group, which includes Leland Manigo, Desmond Johnson, Ben Skinner, Dylan Patel, and John Newton, is famously known for its funny YouTube videos that poke fun at popular culture, sports, video games, anime, and Internet memes. The RDCWorld1 YouTube channel has 6.5 million subscribers and over 1.3 billion views.
DARK LIGHTS Summary
In an alternate version of modern-day America, everyone in this one particular hood is born with a superhuman talent. Some have astounding abilities like directing fire, creating clones, and flying. While others have less impressive talents like making water boil, conjuring up a light breeze, and locating lost cats. There’s one big catch, though!
Their abilities only manifest at night! This means that from dusk till dawn, the hood is a deadly zone where nobody is safe from the gangs. These gang wars are so violent that entire city blocks end up destroyed. The cops won’t intervene as long as the violence continues inside the boundaries of the hood.
DARK LIGHTS follows the main character, Vincent, and his friends Issac, Zelana, JJ, Ezekiel, and Diamond. After JJ accidentally picks a fight with the most notorious gang by flirting with a member’s girlfriend, they find themselves at the center of a battle, causing them to become a gang of their own.
When they are considered a gang, Vincent has many reservations but ultimately wants to take this chance to dive deeper into this lifestyle in hopes of uncovering the truth about his dad. Vincent’s dad was a cop who got murdered by a gang member. Vincent has always wanted to know who was responsible for his death.
Inspired by the storytelling in traditional anime, RDCWORLD’s DARK LIGHTS takes concepts found in anime and puts their own unique twist on them. According to Mark, this series tackles a lot of real stuff and explores the dark side of life in the hood. Viewers can expect lots of action with a decent amount of comedy, too.
