Tokyo Revengers season three now has a release date and a brand new trailer. The second season of the popular anime aired this past January, making 2023 a big year for Tokyo Revengers fans as the show returns next month on October 3rd.
About the Series
The anime adaptation of Ken Wakui’s manga, produced by Linden Films, began in 2021 and has run two seasons so far. The Tokyo Revengers manga came to an end last November after running since 2017 and has more than 70 million copies in circulation. The story follows Takemichi Hanagaki, a despondent, underachieving 26 year-old man who is drifting through life on a series of part time jobs. One day, he learns that his ex-girlfriend, Hinata Tachibana, and her brother have been tragically killed during a dispute involving the Tokyo Manji gang. Soon after, he is pushed off a subway platform and is suddenly thrown back in time, ending up in the year that he dated Hinata. Takemichi makes the decision to change the past he has ended up in in order to change his present and prevent Hinata’s death, which leads to his involvement with the very gang that lead to Hinata’s death.
The first season of the anime adapted the first three arcs of the manga and ran twenty-four episodes. The second season, which just premiered earlier this year, was thirteen episodes and covered the Black Dragons arc.
Tokyo Revengers Season Three
Tokyo Revengers season three picks up where the previous season ended and will be covering the Tenjiku arc, which is the second to last arc of the series. While it is unclear how many episodes this season will run, it will likely be similar to season two.
A new trailer, currently available in Japanese without English subtitles, was released today. It offers a brief look at the upcoming season, including some shots of the season’s antagonists in action. A new key visual featuring Mikey and Izana, the characters at the center of the conflict for the arc, has also been released, and the ending theme for the season has been confirmed as “Say My Name” performed by HEY-SMITH.
Tokyo Revengers season three will premiere on Disney+ on October 3rd, and will be available for US audiences on Hulu.
