Ambush! Atlus Japan has uploaded a presentation centered around the TRPG spin-off of Persona 5 Royal (2019), Persona 5 Tactica (2023)! Though the presentation covered more story, the portion that has taken Phantom Aficionados’ hearts is the new DLC, featuring fan favorite characters, Goro Akechi and Kasumi Yoshizawa!
About Persona 5 Tactica
Persona 5 Tactica, being a spinoff of the main Persona 5 titles, is a new game genre for Atlus. Taking on the Tactical RPG style spearheaded by series such as Fire Emblem and Advance Wars. Ever since Tokyo Mirage Sessions ♯FE (2015), the rhythm game crossover between Fire Emblem and Atlus’ original series Shin Megami Tensei, fans have been begging for a game in a classic board-strategy format. What better way to create a new strategy game than with their beloved characters from Persona 5 Royal?
The characters featured in this new side-story have been deemed the “royal trio,” being the three main characters featured in the exclusive content in Persona 5 Royal. Quickly becoming a fan favorite band of misfits, Joker, Akechi, and Kasumi have garnered a large following that have been demanding a return ever since 2019. Since Akechi and Kasumi were not in Persona 5 Strikers (2020), it’s great to see this iconic heart-robbing trio make a well deserved comeback!
Persona 5 Tactica DLC: An Artist’s Retribution!
Titled “Repaint Your Heart,” this Persona 5 Tactica DLC expansion follows a mysterious villain known only under the name Guernica, a reference to Pablo Picasso’s famous war painting under the same name. Using Shibuya as his canvas, he depicts detailed images of personas and Metaverse adversaries. Including the protagonist’s persona, Arsene! The strange part is only a fellow persona-user can see Arsene. So who could this masked adversary be? Find out in the upcoming expansion!
Meet with the lovely Kasumi Yoshizawa after she finds some of Guernica’s graffiti, and run into the detective prince Goro Akechi already on the scene! With just as much curiosity, these two sidekicks assist Joker in getting to the source of the mysterious artistry. Seeing the synergy of these three in Persona 5 Royal, it’s no wonder why fans are going crazy for this expansion. The cocky yet determined Akechi, the innocently sharp Kasumi, and the suave, charming protagonist Joker are finally getting more screen time together.
Great Battles, Great Actors, and Even Greater Personas!
Along with their amazing personalities, Akechi and Kasumi’s Metaverse guises make a return! With a great balance of light, dark, and almighty attacks, Robin Hood and Cendrillon serve as great assistants to the action-packed gameplay of Persona 5 Tactica!
With the inclusion of these specific spirit-bound soldiers, fans can finally confirm that Persona 5 Tactica’s story takes place during the events of the 6th palace from Persona 5 Royal. With Akechi in his prince uniform, this trailer establishes the first time these three work as a team, serving as a prequel to their time as a trio in Persona 5 Royal. Although they had only shared tea together at this time in the base game, it’s going to be astonishing to see them work together so early on in a new timeline.
Along with the great battle mechanics, fans are over the moon to see the voice actors make another entrance. With the amazing, emotional acting of Robbie Daymond as Akechi, and the heart-wrenching performance of Laura Post as Kasumi, fans know they’re in for a treat in this new game. Atlus knows how to make fans happy by casting some of the best voice actors the series has seen; There’s no doubt their performance will blow everyone away once again.
A New Perspective!
A new unseen threat hitting Shibuya, and only these three knowing about it is what makes this street-artist chase so enticing. With a brigade of brightly colored shadows to throw at these three, Guernica may prove to be a rat-faced, masked madman in search of something in the Metaverse. How will these three prevail?
With an already great history behind them, and only the best voice actors, this side-story performance is only building up hype. Persona 5 Tactica is looking to be an amazing game with heart behind it, providing a whole new point of view on already beloved characters. “Repaint Your Heart” is living proof of how much love Atlus has for their fans, and especially their favorite characters.
