As part of the San Diego Comic-Con 2023 releases, fans got a first look at the highly anticipated Adult Swim Rick and Morty anime series.
San Diego Comic Con 2023 Announcement: Rick and Morty: The Anime
Rick and Morty: The Anime is a Japanese–American science fiction sitcom developed by Takashi Sano and produced by Studio Deen, Sola Entertainment, and Telecom Animation Film from Adult Swim. This is the third series in the franchise and will be based on the animated series of the same name by Justin Roiland and Dan Harmon. The anime version stars Yōhei Tadano as Rick Sanchez and Keisuke Chiba as Morty Smith.
In the teaser, Takashi Sano inspires confidence and was quoted in a pre-recorded video saying, “As the director, I would like to assure you that I’m also a huge fan of Rick and Morty. I believe there are many Rick and Morty fans, and I’m truly honored to be chosen to create a new Rick and Morty story out of all of them.”
Sano also commented on the pressures of creating a new Rick and Morty series as a fan. He explained that his goal was to take all of his favorite parts of watching Rick and Morty and “compress them down to extract their essence and then add a unique Japanese Twist.”
With Sano being a fan of the show, and his track record of unique content, it seems likely that this will be worth tuning in to and checking out once it’s released.
With no release date communicated at the event, we will diligently stay on the lookout for any updates, releases, or content drops. Follow the Rick and Morty social media accounts for more information.
“Nobody exists on purpose. Nobody belongs anywhere. We’re all going to die. Come watch TV.” – Mortimer Chauncey “Morty” Smith
