The official trailer is out, and Season 3 of The Rising of the Shield Hero will be released October 2023! Naofumi, Raphtalia, and the rest of their party find themselves embarking on yet another adventure. The other three heroes have gone missing, leaving Naofumi and crew a quest to Zeltoble to investigate.

The anime first aired in January 2019, and it was at this time that we were first introduced to Naofumi Iwatani, one of four Legendary Heroes that were summoned from a kingdom in another world to save its citizens from Waves of Calamity.
The anime series is an adaptation of a light novel series that is currently ongoing, written by Aneko Yusagi and originally published as a web novel. It was later turned into a manga, with illustrations by Seira Minami.
Crunchyroll describes the series as follows:
Iwatani Naofumi, a run-of-the-mill otaku, finds a book in the library that summons him to another world. He is tasked with joining the sword, spear, and bow as one of the Four Cardinal Heroes and fighting the Waves of Catastrophe as the Shield Hero. Excited by the prospect of a grand adventure, Naofumi sets off with his party. However, merely a few days later, he is betrayed and loses all his money, dignity, and respect. Unable to trust anyone anymore, he employs a slave named Raphtalia and takes on the Waves and the world. But will he really find a way to overturn this desperate situation?
Naofumi and his party have been battling friends and foes alike through two action-packed seasons, with the third season’s release window confirmed in a new trailer. October can’t come any quicker!
