Welcome, Attack on Titan fans! Your patience, hard work, and determination has finally come to fruition. MAPPA has confirmed that Attack on Titan part 3 of season 4 will air in Japan, March 4th, 2023. However, it should be available for most international viewers on March 3rd, 2023, starting around 7:45am for those living in the PST timezone and 10:45am for anyone in the EST timezone. That means game on for our North American viewers!
Recently, MAPPA also confirmed that part 3 of the final season would only feature two episodes. The first episode, airing tonight, is an hour long special estimated to be just barely enough to satisfy you anime junkies with a short-term fix. The release date for the next episode has yet to be released by MAPPA, but fans are pressuring them for a two-hour finale special. As far as episode count goes, this is the typical inconsistency that Attack on Titan usually brings to the table. They took this even further by dividing the final season into three separate parts and holding the fandom hostage for closure in the series.
To promote the hour long special, MAPPA also published a documentary with the Japanese broadcaster NHK on February 23rd. They were given special permission to set up over 100 cameras at MAPPA headquarters to capture everything from animators drawing frames, the CGI being worked on by artists, production staff, and everything else that goes into the development of a successful anime!
This final arc is bound to be exciting and will have us waiting with fervent anticipation for its conclusion later this year. Please let us know in the comments below how you felt about the episode, if you plan to watch it or any other thoughts you may have!
